Our History

ANGELCARE was formed in the mid-seventies by Donald Lane Miller, a former Lt. Commander of the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.  As the U.S. military abandoned the country, he wanted to help the South Vietnamese allies who had taken to boats to escape the North Vietnamese.  Those efforts for help expanded beyond the refugee camps.  Mr. Miller formally incorporated the organization in 1977, as Children's ANGELCARE Aid International.

Since 1997, we have operated as ANGELCARE.  ANGELCARE has been giving children a chance to live...to grow, ...to learn and to dream since the mid 1970's.  The Board selected Dr. T.J. Grosser to succeed Mr. Miller as President/CEO in 1987.  Dr. Grosser expanded the organization's reach into Africa, Eastern Europe, and Latin America.

Children have no voice in their nation's politics.  No vote, no say, no strength.  They are powerless to change their lives without help.  If their nations declare war, drop bombs, or pollute the environment, it is the children who suffer the greatest harm.  For some of these children, we are their only hope.

We focus on the very poor in an attempt to effect permanent change and improvement in their lives.  Our organization specializes in smaller projects that many other agencies do not even consider.  We know that every child deserves a chance, and with your help, we hope to give them that chance.
