Personal Property

Boats and Yachts

Commodities and Medicine

Wills and Trust

As an IRS recognized (501(C)(3) public benefit corporation, ANGELCARE can receive contributions in almost any form:  ANGELCARE’s policy is that all contributions of any size are acknowledged whenever we have sufficient information to do so.  The IRS requires that all single contributions exceeding $250 must be acknowledged to enable the donor to take a take deduction

Contributions are tax deductible as determined by the donor’s tax bracket.

Checks should be made out to ANGELCARE and mailed to P. O. Box 600370, San Diego, CA 92160-0370.

Credit Card donations are handled through a secure service provided by Independent Charities of America and Women-Children-Family Services Federation of America.   ANGELCARE is a member of both organizations and is not charged a processing fee for its credit card donations made through this system.

ANGELCARE also has a credit card merchant’s account through the Bank of America.

A Monthly Pledge:    This can be in the form of a Child Sponsor (see above) or for general projects.  The pledge payments can be made by check or credit card.

A one-time Contribution:  This can be for a specific (designated) project, to support children waiting for a sponsor, or for general purposes. One-time contributions can be made by check or credit card. Click the PayPal button located on the Home page to pay by credit card or PayPal.

UNITED WAY:   Major changes are taking place throughout the UNITED WAY system as it slowly shifted from being dominated by the largest charities in a community and leadership that controls where contributions are directed to a system that is driven by market place forces in which the donor determines who and where his or her contributions are to go through their company’s payroll deduction plan.

The changes are not uniform from community to community.  In general, you designate your United Way pledge and contribution to ANGELCARE if you include the following information:

                         ANGELCARE
                         EIN: 33-0776776
                         P O Box 600370
                         San Diego, CA 92160-0370
                         (619) 795-6234

If your local United Way requires an agency to be a member of another United Way, ANGELCARE is a member in Atlanta,  Los Angeles, San Francisco, and other cities.

PLEASE NOTEPrivacy laws and United Way policies require that unless you specifically authorize the United Way to provide ANGELCARE with your name and address, we will not be able to acknowledge that we have received your pledge or send you a “Thank you.”

WORKPLACE PLEDGES:

If your employer runs its own payroll deduction campaign that is not part of your local United Way, look for ANGELCARE.  If you don’t find us, ask if you can make a pledge to ANGELCARE.

An increasing number of large companies are running their own annual campaigns and allowing their employees to designate the charities of their choice that will receive contributions through payroll deductions.  ANGELCARE is a member of Independent Charities of America, a federation of around 750 national charities that works with large and medium sized corporations in organizing and managing their annual charitable campaigns through payroll deduction plans.  Look to see if ANGELCARE is listed in your companies campaign.  If it is not, ask if you can designate your pledge to ANGELCARE; most employers will permit you to make the designation if you provide them with this information:

                           ANGELCARE
                         EIN: 33-0776776
                         P O Box 600370
                         San Diego, CA 92160-0370
                         (619) 795-6234

If your company requires more information on ANGELCARE’s programs and/or Financial Statements,  call our office to request the required information.   We will cooperate and get it to you or the proper management person as quickly as possible.

PLEASE NOTEPrivacy laws and company policies require that unless you specifically authorize your employer to provide ANGELCARE with your name and address, we will not be able to acknowledge that we have received your pledge or send you a “Thank you.”

COMBINED FEDERAL CAMPAIGN:  The Combined Federal Campaign(CFC) is the annual “united way” campaign for federal employees and members of the U.S. military. ANGELCARE has qualified for pledges and contributions through CFC for over 25 years.  Any federal employee or member of the U.S. military can make a payroll deduction pledge to ANGELCARE.

ANGELCARE is one of the few organizations in CFC that has arranged for CFC donors to be child sponsors.   Your annual CFC pledge must be for $300 ($25 per month) and you must send us a copy of your CFC pledge form, designating ANGELCARE for a $300 pledge, with a note on the pledge form:  “Child Sponsor.”  You will receive your Child Sponsorship packet  as soon as we receive the copy of our pledge form.   The form can be faxed to (619) 795-6238.

ANGELCARE’s CFC number is 11344.   Look for us under the listing for the Women, Children, Family Services Federation of America.  We are a member of this federation and Independent Charities of America.

PLEASE NOTEPrivacy laws and Combined Federal Campaign regulations require that unless you specifically authorize the United Way to provide ANGELCARE with your name and address, we will not be able to acknowledge that we have received your pledge or send you a “Thank you.”

DONATIONS OF PERSONAL PROPERTY: Under the new IRS regulations, the person donating a vehicle will receive an immediate acknowledgement or receipt for a $500 donation.  If the vehicle is sold at an auction for more than $500, the donor will receive a second letter raising the donation to the amount of the sale price.  If the vehicle is used by ANGELCARE in its programs, the donor will receive a letter for a donation of the appraised (Blue Book) value of the vehicle.

In July 2006 the U.S. Congress passed new  regarding the donation of used items such as clothing, appliances, furniture, and the like.  The IRS specific regulations interpreting this new law will be published by September 2006.  Donors should check with their accountants or tax advisers  when making such donations that they value at less than $500.  Items valued at over $500 require an independent written appraisal.

ANGELCARE WELCOMES DONATIONS OF BOATS & YACHTS:  We have experienced and trained staff to work with you to comply with the latest tax laws and IRS regulations in making either a straight donation or to arrange a Bargain Sale Purchase & Donation.  This can be a complicated process that involves you, your tax adviser, and ANGELCARE.   Contact our office (888) ANGL CARE/(888) 264-5227 to obtain the necessary information to begin the process and make the necessary arrangements.  Donated vessels are either used in ANGELCARE’s Pelican Project or improved and sold to generate funds for programs.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT BOAT DONATIONS

We are philanthropists who understand that many would-be donors of hard assets of boats, real estate, etc, however well intentioned, would much more prefer to obtain some cash towards their donation. We are able to accomplish this through the use of an IRS approved Bargain Sale. This fund raising innovation is what distinguishes ANGELCARE from most traditional publicly supported charities.

COMMODITIES & MEDICINES

ANGELCARE  welcomes large donations of grain, books, building materials, medicines, and medical supplies that can be used in its projects and in its disaster relief efforts.  These contributions are tax deductible at their fair market or wholesale value, depending upon the type of the contribution.  To be cost-effective for ANGELCARE to use commodities, medicines, and medical supplies the contributions must in quantities that fill a sea-going container.  Contact our office (888) ANGL CARE/(888) 264-5227 to obtain the necessary information and to make the necessary arrangements.

YOU CAN BE AN ANGEL TO NEEDY CHILDREN AFTER YOU ARE GONE

The sad, unfortunate truth is that the needs of poor and hungry children will be a terrible and painful reality long after you and I have passed on.  Your concern for these children and /or improving their lives can live on after you have passed from this life by including ANGELCARE in your Will or establishing one of several types of Trust.  ANGELCARE is prepared to work with your attorney or Estate Planner to arrange an ongoing Living Memorial to your love and concern for poor and hungry children.  Contact our office (888) ANGL CARE/(888) 264-5227 to obtain the necessary information to begin the process and arrange for conversations with you, your attorney and/or Estate Planner, and ANGELCARE.
